How long can breast milk be stored for?
According to the Australian Breastfeeding Association, freshly expressed breast milk can be stored:
- On the bench: up to 8 hours (in room temperature less than 26°C)
- In the fridge: up to 72 hours
- In the freezer: up to 3 months (on a temperature of -18°C), if in deep freeze (-20°C), it can be stored from 6 to 12 months.
After the breast milk is taken out of the freezer, it can be stored at room temperature for up to 4 hours and in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Don’t refreeze previously frozen breast milk.
Whats the difference between Pigeon’s breast milk storage bags and breast milk storage bottles?
Both storage bags and storage bottles are perfect for storing your breast milk. Storage bags take less space in the fridge, freezer or on the bag for on the go, but the choice is totally up to what you prefer.
