FAQs about SofTouch (Wide neck) Baby Bottles & Teats
Pigeon SofTouch™ wide neck baby bottles and teats are designed to closely mimic the natural shape, softness and movement of a mother's breast. The ultra-soft silicone teat encourages babies to use the same natural sucking motion they use during breastfeeding, helping support a deep latch and reduce nipple confusion.
A clearly marked Latch-on Line helps parents position the teat correctly, whilst the built-in anti-colic system supports smooth milk flow and helps reduce air intake. This thoughtful design makes switching between breast and bottle easier and more comfortable for babies.

The SofTouch™ bottles include an Air Ventilation System (AVS™) that helps reduce the amount of air your baby swallows whilst feeding. This ventilation feature sits right in the teat to support a more consistent milk flow.
What this means for your baby:
- Less swallowed air = fewer windups and gas
- Smoother milk flow = calmer, more settled feeds
- Especially helpful for newborns and night feeds
SofTouch III is our classic bottle line, trusted by parents for years. SofTouch BPP is our newer, more advanced range with enhanced eco-friendly features.
Key difference: SofTouch BPP bottles are made with 20% ISCC-certified bio-based plastic, making them a more sustainable choice without compromising on safety or performance. Both feature the same trusted SofTouch™ design with soft, breast-like teats and the Air Ventilation System (AVS™) that reduces colic and supports natural feeding.
If you're looking for an environmentally conscious option, SofTouch BPP is the newer choice. Both ranges offer the same quality and comfort your baby needs.
SofTouch™ silicone teats come in six sizes (SS, S, M, L, LL, LLL), each offering different silicone softness and hole size to match your baby's age and sucking strength. The general guideline:
- SS (extra small): Premature and very early newborns (0M+)
- S (small): Newborns, slower flow (0–3M)
- M (medium): Growing babies, medium flow (3–6M)
- L (large): Older babies, faster flow (6–12M)
- LL & LLL (extra large): Toddlers 12+ months, fastest flow
Important tip: Start with the slowest flow teat for newborns and progress only when your baby seems frustrated or takes too long to feed. Switching too early can lead to over-fast flow and gulping. Always observe your baby's cues and growth stage when changing sizes.
No—quite the opposite. The SofTouch™ wide neck design is created with practicality in mind:
- Easier cleaning: The wider neck makes it simple to reach the bottom of the bottle with a brush
- Easier assembly: Components fit together smoothly without forcing
- Comfortable grip: The ergonomic shape helps parents and carers hold the bottle confidently during feeds
- Lightweight: Materials like polypropylene (PP) are durable yet light, making them ideal for everyday use at home or on the go
Yes. The soft, breast-like teat shape combined with our Y-cut and variable cut teat designs encourages babies to use the same natural sucking motion as breastfeeding. This similarity in feel and function helps minimise nipple confusion—a common concern when introducing bottles to breastfed babies.
Many parents find SofTouch™ bottles are a natural bridge between exclusive breastfeeding and bottle feeding, or for babies being fed both ways.
SofTouch™ wide neck bottles are available in four materials, each with distinct advantages:
- Polypropylene (PP): Lightweight, durable, affordable; ideal for everyday use and on-the-go feeding
- PPSU: Ultra-lightweight, heat-resistant up to 180°C, naturally honey-toned (no dyes); excellent for frequent sterilisation
- Glass: Premium option for temperature-sensitive babies; naturally chemical-free and durable, though heavier and requires careful handling
- T-Ester: Advanced plastic option combining durability with heat resistance; lightweight alternative to glass
Choose based on your lifestyle, sterilisation method, and baby's needs.
Yes! All SofTouch™ wide neck bottles and teats are compatible with each other. You can:
- Use different teat sizes with the same bottle
- Mix bottle materials (use a glass bottle one day, PP the next)
- Swap caps and collars between bottles
This flexibility lets you build a feeding solution tailored to your family's routine and your baby's needs. Our Build Your Own Bottle (BYOB) makes customisation even easier.
