What is “Peristaltic Plus” and how is Teat S designed for baby feeding?
The Peristaltic Plus teat is designed based on research into latching, peristaltic movement (how baby’s tongue compresses the teat), and swallowing. It features a wide-neck base similar to breast shape, textured surface for better latch, and Air Ventilation System (AVS) to reduce trapped air. Teat S has a round hole, giving slower flow—good for younger babies who drink ~100ml in ~10 minutes.
When should I move from size S teat to a larger size?
Signs include: baby finishes feeding very quickly and seems dissatisfied; baby is coughing or gulping frequently (teat too fast) or conversely feeding very slowly and getting frustrated (teat too slow). Also when baby can handle more volume easily. Generally parents move to M size around 3-4 months, but always watch your baby’s cues.
How often should the S teats be replaced?
Pigeon recommends changing silicone teats every 2-3 months (sooner if bite marks, cracks, or damage) to ensure safety and hygiene. Also replace if flow seems altered, discolouration, or deformation.
Are these teats compatible with all SofTouch bottles?
Yes, the Peristaltic Plus teats are designed to work with the wide-neck SofTouch / BPP bottles. They will fit the glass, PP, PPSU versions, etc. Always ensure you assemble correctly and that threads etc. match.
