> What to look for in a fast flow baby bottle?
With so many fast flow baby bottles on the market, it can be overwhelming to choose the right one. To help you out, we've listed a few helpful tips of what to look for in a fast flow baby bottle:
- Bottle Size: Generally if your baby is ready for a fast flow baby bottle they are consuming larger amounts of milk per feed. We would recommend choosing a baby bottle that can hold at least 200ml of liquid.Β
- Teat Type: Y cut teats are generally the option to go for when looking for a fast flow teat. It should be available for babies who are 8months+
- Material Type: You might have an independent feeder who likes to hold their own bottle. If that's the case, we'd recommend sticking with baby bottles that won't break if dropped.

We often get asked if you still need to sterilise a fast flow baby bottle. It is advised to sterilise a baby bottle when your child is under 12 months of age. So if your little one is still under 1 year of age, we would recommend sterilising the baby bottle after every use.

What are 'Y' cut hole teats?
Y cut hole teats have a βYβ opening shape where the milk is only released when the baby sucks on the teat. With a Y cut hole teat the baby is able to vary the flow of the milk by themselves - the harder they suck, the larger the Y cut will open.
When should I use 'Y' cut teat holes?
Y cut hole teats are perfect for babies as they get older and have strong jaw muscles to suck harder on the teat. Generally this is for babies 6+ months of age.
Round hole vs 'Y' cut holeΒ - Whatβs the difference in the teat?
Different from the Y cut hole, the round hole teat has a round hole that allows milk to drip out of the bottle without any sucking when itβs held upside down. This teat is recommended for younger babies who arenβt able to suck too hard to get milk out of the bottle just yet.Β
